Ron's Testimony
Ron entered into the Door of Hope in September 2008. He lived in the streets under an overpass and drank heavily for 3 years. Ron fell off an overpass and woke up in the hospital with serious injuries. He doesn't remember much because of the head injury. He went into a treatment center for his alcohol addiction, and went to the Rescue Mission from there. He was using a walker when he arrived. I prayed for Ron in the back yard when he arrived, and we became good friends.
We were in the Mission for 9 months together. Ron and I were returning from a meeting in town, and he turned to me and said; “Ron you saved my life”. (We are both named Ron); I told him; “The Lord did it”!! Ron has stayed clean and sober the entire time in the Mission. Ron was re-united with his son and grandkids. This brought him much joy and hope. His volatile relationship with his daughter was even reconciled; and he was made Staff at the Mission. Ron received much needed medical and dental care, and has new teeth. When we said good by outside the Mission on the 3rd of June; I broke down and cried when Ron said; “This is hard”. I could barely drive down the road, because I was weeping. We endured so much together. Ron was strengthened in his faith; and recommitted his life to Christ; and I believe the Lord is going to use his gift in music-playing guitar for worship.
