"Sleep Here"
Jan/Feb-98     This happened sometime early in the year, when I was out on one of the first 24 hour trips. While walking down a street, and looking for a place to sleep, the Lord said: "Sleep Here". This was to be one of my favorite spots in Berkeley, and was always vacant when I needed it. It wasn't really a doorway but set back in the building and had the connections for the fire department. No one ever told me to move.

One night while trying to get to sleep, I was counting Berkeley cop cars--kind of like counting sheep. It actually started to work until a street sweeper startled me at about 4am. Never really slept in the streets on the 24 hour trips. This was just a place to stop and rest.

Note: One morning while half asleep; a woman pulled up in a pretty red sports car. She was waiting for the parking garage door to open. She had to get out and hit the number keys.  She said:  "good morning".  I lifted my hat and said "good morning".  I was kind of laughing because that's not normal. The public usually runs from us.
