"Ronnie"

March 29-98:     I went out with my signs and set up on the streets. This was a panhandling assignment with a bowl for money set on a stool; and the signs in front. A homeless man put some money in my bowl; and without even planning or thinking about it, I pulled my billfold out and gave the man a dollar and said: "Because you put something in my cup the Lord would have me give you this dollar".

Note: No one else put any money in my bowl. Only a homeless man gave me something.

He was shocked and took a step back and kind of shook his head. He was surprised about this and moved on down the street. I noticed he was wearing a wooden cross. After this assignment, I headed down shattuck and talked to Ronnie. He said he was a believer and have been homeless for about 3 years. He had a cup set up; and wasn't asking for money but was just waiting for people to put money in his cup. Ronnie said the Lord had given him instructions to just sit and not ask for money. He had to trust the Lord to provide.

Ronnie and I would fellowship over the year, and he was to be an encouragement to me. He was a wealth of knowledge about the streets. Non street people liked him and he had lots of friends in the streets.
